Thermal Printer Setup
Connect a thermal receipt printer to auto-print incoming orders.
Supported printers: Star Micronics TSP100 series, Epson TM-T88 series. Both connect via Wi-Fi to the same network as your ordering device.
Connect the Printer to Wi-Fi
- Power on the printer and hold the Feed button for 3 seconds to print a configuration page.
- Note the printer's MAC address from the configuration page.
- Using the Star Micronics or Epson utility app (available free in App Store/Google Play), connect the printer to your restaurant's Wi-Fi network.
- Print a test page to confirm the printer is connected. The configuration page will now show an IP address.
Find the Printer's IP Address
- After connecting to Wi-Fi, print a configuration page again (hold Feed 3 seconds).
- Note the IP address shown on the page (format: 192.168.x.xxx).
- Your printer and the device running Boom must be on the same Wi-Fi network.
Configure Boom to Use the Printer
- Log into your Boom portal at boomonlineordering.com/portal.
- Navigate to Settings → Hardware → Receipt Printer.
- Select your printer model (Star TSP100 or Epson TM-T88).
- Enter the IP address from Step 2.
- Click "Test Print" — the printer should print a test receipt.
- Set "Auto-print incoming orders" to On.
Set Print Copies
- Under Settings → Hardware → Receipt Printer, you can set how many copies to print per order.
- Most restaurants print 1 copy for the customer and 1 for the kitchen (or use the KDS for kitchen instead).
- We recommend 2 copies: one customer receipt, one kitchen ticket.
Troubleshooting
Printer is connected but won't print
Confirm the printer and your ordering device are on the same Wi-Fi network. Try pinging the printer IP from a browser — if it doesn't respond, the IP may have changed. Check router settings for a DHCP reservation to keep the printer IP fixed.
Test print works but orders don't auto-print
Check that "Auto-print incoming orders" is enabled in Settings → Hardware. Also confirm the printer stays powered on when the restaurant is closed — some printers sleep and miss orders.
Print quality is poor or blank
Thermal paper loads with the heat-sensitive side (usually the shiny side) facing up. If it loads the wrong way, prints appear blank or very light.
